MATTSON TECHNOLOGY COMPLETES DIVESTITURE
OF WET PRODUCTS DIVISION
Transaction Reinforces Company’s Strategic
Focus on Core Businesses
FREMONT, Calif. — March 17, 2003 — Mattson
Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTSN), a leading
supplier of advanced process equipment
used to manufacture semiconductors, today
announced that it has completed the sale
of its Wet Products Division to SCP Global
Technologies, a leading wet processing
equipment provider. This divestiture is
part of Mattson’s strategy of focusing
on its enabling RTP and strip processing
tools and technologies.
The transaction
involves the transfer of certain subsidiaries,
assets and intellectual
property related to Mattson’s Wet
Products Division. Upon closing, SCP assumes
responsibility for the operations, sales,
marketing and technical support services
for Mattson’s former wet product
lines worldwide. Mattson expects to take
restructuring charges related to the divestiture
in the first and second quarters of 2003.
