MATTSON TECHNOLOGY FORMS SINGAPORE SUBSIDIARY

FREMONT, Calif. — OCTOBER 19, 1999 — Mattson Technology (Nasdaq:MTSN) today announced it has established Mattson Technology Singapore Pte. Ltd., a direct sales and service organization based in Singapore to serve customers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and China.

Mattson Technology's tremendous growth over the past five years has made it practical for the company to transition away from Aneric, which had been its service and support representative in Singapore for several years, and establish a new subsidiary operation. The establishment of Mattson Singapore will increase direct customer contact between Mattson and its growing customer base in the region and enhance the company's ability to provide high-quality, dependable sales and service functions. Mattson Singapore has a charter to provide Mattson customers with a full range of services, from before-and after-sales, service and process support to spare parts.

Aneric has agreed to support the transition to the new Mattson subsidiary. In an effort to maintain cohesion between customers and representatives, Aneric's entire Mattson team has joined Mattson Singapore. Aneric will house Mattson Singapore until a permanent location becomes available.

Mattson Singapore is the fifth overseas office established by Mattson Technology. In addition to its U.S. world headquarters, the company now has organizations in Europe, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore.
